The California Room hosts a special exhibit curated by California Room clerk Ralph Pearce. Utilizing artifacts gathered in his many years of research into Japantown’s fascinating past, the exhibit will include materials related to Japantown businesses, festivals, Internment, Chinese and Filipino communities, sports, and more.
See actual bricks from Chinatown buildings, ceramics uncovered by recent construction, original photographs, a menu from the 1920s, wallpaper from a 1915 midwifery, a Japanese American school girl’s essay written during the Japanese Internment, and many more unique and interesting items.
