Volunteer Away Your Fines as a California Room Comrade

Every now and then, libraries need a little extra love from the communities they serve. You can volunteer away your library fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the California Room maintain a clean and welcoming environment. You can choose to volunteer for 2 hours on select Fridays starting at 9AM. To register call 408-808-2181.

Must be 15 years old or older to volunteer as a California Room Comrade. Event starts promptly at 9am, so please be on time. 

Volunteers will be responsible for: 

  • Bookshelves – Dust shelves and organize library materials.

  • Deep cleaning computers – Use disinfecting wipes to disinfect computer mice and mouse pads and compressed air to remove any dust particles or debris.

  • Tabletop/windows – Help reinvigorate the space by assisting with wiping down tabletops and cleaning dusty windows.

This is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering away their library fines.

  • Registration is required
  • Must be able to commit to the full shift
  • Must be 15 years old or older to volunteer as a California Room Comrade
  • No experience or special skills necessary
  • Training and supplies will be provided
  • Parking validation will be available for volunteers at the 4th Street Garage
